New Back-to-School Printables

by Kay on August 27, 2015

Is it that time of year already? The summer has gone by fast for my family, and with one kid in college and another in elementary school, I’m well aware of just how many things you need to buy when you go school supply shopping. Fortunately, it’s all a lot easier when you can get most of the things you need at the FreePrintable.net websites.

Depending on whether you’re a student or a teacher, you’ll probably have different shopping needs this fall. For students in any grade, I recommend heading over to PrintablePaper.net, which now has a staggering 1,600 printable paper templates that can help you through the whole school year. There are standard wide-rule, college-rule, and graph paper pages, but there are also really interesting creative templates for science, math, design, and art. These include 3D paper, comic book story panels, music staff paper, polar graph paper, and logarithmic paper. All are free to print as a PDF.

For high school and college students, there are plenty of printable planners at PrintablePlanners.net that can help track grades, schedule courses and application materials, organize homework, and plan for tests. You can choose from black-and-white or colorful designs, and they all come with a three-hole punch marker so that they can easily be put into binders. PDF files are free to download, while an editable DOC version is available for $4.

It’s never too early to start thinking about studying, which is why I have hundreds of flash cards at PrintableFlashCards.net. They span the board from history to music to language to science. The nice part is, you can make your own on any topic at any time, using my free flash card maker.

This year, I introduced a brand-new site that’s perfect for math and design students. PrintableRulers.net has every standard and specialty printable ruler you could ever need, in exact measurements. For Imperial Standard use, you can download and cut out a ruler in inches or yards. For the metric scale, there are rulers in millimeters, centimeters, and meters (some have to be cut out and taped together!). They’re all free to print as a PDF, and I recommend using thick cardstock for a sturdier ruler.

For all my readers who are teachers instead of students, I have several other new websites this year that have a lot to offer for projects, classroom management, and lessons.

ReportTemplates.net is a new site that offers report templates for various classroom purposes. There are progress reports, student performance reports, and classroom attendance trackers. There are also templates for kids to fill out when they’re writing book reports or academic abstracts. Everything on the site is free to download and print as a DOC or PDF.

Alongside the world map templates at PrintableWorldMap.net, a great new resource for geography, social studies, and history classes is my new site for printable flags, FreePrintableFlags.com. This website has full-color, illustrated flags for nearly every major country on every continent. They can provide a great visual aid for lessons on a number of subjects, and they’re all free as PDFs.

As always, my main teacher resource is TeachersPrintables.net, which now has more than 850 teaching aids for a single classroom, administrative office, or the whole school. Admin staff will like the academic calendars, hallway passes, library signs, and parent communication forms. Teachers can plan out their week, month, or year with seating charts, lesson plans, grading rubrics, and homework templates. Each form is free to download and print as either a PDF or a customizable DOC. However, if you want access to 400-plus templates in one place, I recommend getting the teacher collection for $27, or the whole-school license for $67.

InstantWorksheets.net is the best site to go to if you’re looking for fun, informative supplemental material for any and every lesson plan. It offers more than 1,000 printable worksheets that are suitable for every grade between kindergarten and high school. The topics vary widely, but you can count on finding a plethora of worksheets for addition, geology, motor skills, U.S. history, phonics, patterns, and more. You can download all of the forms for free, or spring for a $4 monthly membership that provides unlimited access to the custom math problem generator.

Writing is an important skill no matter what your ultimate interests are, which is why FreeWritingPrompts.net has hundreds of writing prompts for everything from narrative papers to persuasive essays to fictional stories. Essay prompts are arranged by age range, structure type, and topic (including holidays!). You can copy and paste the text from the website, or download and edit it as a DOC.

If you want to give your students some encouragement and motivation, there are quite a few education certificates at FreePrintableCertificates.net. The certificates all recognizes effort, achievement, and skill in every subject from reading to band to school bus safety. There are also colorful and illustrated diplomas arranged by age and grade. All are free to print as a PDF. A customizable DOC version can be purchased for $5 and typed into using a word processor.

To all students and teachers, have a great school year, and happy printing!
