Thanksgiving Printables

Let’s talk turkey. Or Tofurkey. I love Thanksgiving. Our home has traditionally been the “gathering place” for friends and family, and we like it that way. My wife is a wonderful cook, and we all enjoy eating until we’re sleepy. And then eating some more. We also like sharing what we’re grateful for, which is plenty.

Thanksgiving invitation

Accordingly, I decided to create a website specifically for ThanksgivingPrintables, at www.ThanksgivingPrintables.net. There are more than 60 cards, invitations, coloring pages, puzzles, mazes, and more to download and print. And everything on the site is free.

There are 25 coloring pages to choose, so you can keep the kids busy while dinner is cooking. There are pies, pilgrims, and cornucopias along with designs that you can enjoy all season long, such as falling leaves or pumpkins.

I’ve included a nice assortment of Thanksgiving mazes, with themes such as “Help the Mayflower Get to the Ocean” and “Help the Football Player Get to the Dinner Table.” There are also two word search puzzles with full-color seasonal designs.

The printable greeting cards and invitations have full-color designs of turkeys, gourds, pilgrims, and more, and are available in either small (quarter-fold) or large (half-fold) sizes. You can download a PDF, or, if you’d like to type into your card before printing (such as adding event details to an invitation), choose the DOC version for Microsoft Word. They’re all free!

Please keep reading the blog, as I’ll have a roundup of other Thanksgiving printables soon.

Halloween Printables

I have all kinds of scary stuff planned for Halloween, including a preschool pumpkin patch visit and some creative costume shopping. While I was getting into the spirit of spooking, I added a bunch of new Halloween printables to various FreePrintable.net sites and even launched an entirely new site, www.HalloweenPrintables.net.

Halloween sign

I’ve also added several new Halloween party invitations to www.PrintInvitations.net, as well as cards at www.FreePrintableGreetingCards.net and a new Halloween place card at www.PrintablePlaceCards.net. There are even Halloween recipe cards at www.FreePrintableRecipeCards.net and gift tags at www.FreePrintableGiftTags.net to round out your celebration. If you need a flyer or stationery, check out www.FreeLetterheadTemplates.net. You can even honor winners of pumpkin carving or costume contests with certificates by FreePrintableCertificates.net.

Keep the kids (and grown-ups) busy with the many coloring pages to enjoy at HalloweenPrintables.net or www.FreePrintableColoringPages.net. These free coloring sheets are great for school, or for businesses to set out in October.

As you can see, we love Halloween at FreePrintable.net. There’s plenty at longtime favorite sites, while www.HalloweenPrintables.net is dedicated entirely to the holiday, with more than 80 free coloring pages, greeting cards, mazes, word searches, and Halloween signs. Everything at the site is free, and all of the other sites’ printables have free options as well, with premium, editable DOC versions available for a few dollars.

Have a spookily wonderful Halloween!

New Printable Page Borders

Do you need to make a flyer, write a fancy letter, or print up a custom sign? There are more than 80 printable page border designs to choose from at PageBorders.net, including 20 I just added not long ago.

The new page borders include wedding, Celtic, lobster, woven, and more. (But no Celtic lobster – sorry). There’s already a wide variety of designs at the site, including colorful borders for kids, delicate floral patterns, sports borders, formal/classic borders, and more.

Halloween border

The new additions also include a cool Halloween border with spooky skulls, vampires, and Frankenstein’s monster (don’t worry; I know the difference between the good doctor Frankenstein and his unhuman creation.)

You can print any of the borders in PDF, DOC (Microsoft Word), or JPG form for free. Many of the designs are also available in AI (Adobe Illustrator) form for just $7. They all download instantly and print in full color.

New Printable 2012 calendars

Some people look at the Mayan calendar and think, “The world is ending in 2012!” I look at the Mayan calendar and think of, well, 2012 calendars. Printable2012calendars.com is my followup to the also aptly-named Printable2011calendar.com, which has, um, 2011 calendars. I actually launched the site several months ago, because I know FreePrintable.net fans are smart cookies who like to plan ahead. But just recently I added more calendar variations to the site, and now there are 30 to choose from.

2012 calendar

The new calendars include horizontal and vertical all-on-one-page grids, calendars with holidays in blue or red, and the ever-popular wallet calendar. Just take your pick (or pick a bunch – they’re free!) and download and print in PDF or DOC form. The DOC versions can be opened and edited in Microsoft Word, which is great if you want to customize them by typing appointments or special occasions such as my birthday.

Printable Character Reference Letters

You think you have great character? You’re the type of person someone should trust? Well, you may know it’s true, but there comes a time when you need someone to vouch for you in a more formal sense, and that’s where character references come in. Over the summer, I expanded the collection of letters at www.CharacterReferenceLetters.com.

Character reference letters are a lot like professional reference letters used in job-hunting, but they are intended to specifically address your personal character: honesty, dependability, and all that good stuff.

At CharacterReferenceLetters.com, you can find letter templates for all kinds of situations. They’re not just for employment, although there are plenty of those: nannies, college students, and more. There are also letters for people who wish to adopt a child, or who are facing a court sentencing hearing or other legal matter in which character is an issue. There are more than 40 sample letters to choose from.

These letters aren’t intended to be used exactly as-is, but rather you should use the text provided as a jumping-off point and customize it to suit your situation. This is easy to do, because the letters can be downloaded instantly, for free, in DOC format and edited in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, and similar compatible programs.

If you’re still stuck, be sure to take a look at the articles on the site. There are tips on writing reference letters for friends, students, potential landlords, and so on. There’s a sample letter outline, too, that will help with organizing your thoughts.

Printable Sight Word Lists for Schoolchildren

Besides the phonics approach, sight words or Dolch words have for decades been a tried-and-true method of helping children learn to read. (Personally, I didn’t do well with the phonics approach – I was all about sight words as a kid.)

I’ve added several sight word lists to www.TeachersPrintables.net, for levels ranging from pre-kindergarten to fourth grade. These are the words that many educators believe children should know by site at that particular developmental level. There are High Frequency Words, Dolch Words, and Fry’s Sight Words. Usually, these are words that break the “rules” of traditional phonics.

There are 16 lists to choose from, all preformatted for use by teachers, parents, and homeschoolers. Just print out a word list (they’re all free) for your favorite young reader, in PDF or editable DOC (Microsoft Word, Google Docs, etc.) format.

Also, head on over to www.PrintableFlashCards.net where you’ll find the sight word lists already converted to flash cards for easy practice. Just print them (free!), cut along the dotted lines, fold along the solid lines, and start reviewing.

Halloween Printables at New Site

It’s almost scary how stoked (or should I say “staked”?) I am about my newest website, HalloweenPrintables.net. As you might guess from the URL, it’s all about Halloween printables. There are more than 80 activities, signs, and other cool stuff there already – just in time for teachers, businesses, and others who like to celebrate with fun, free printables.

Halloween word search

Kids will love coloring a boy in a werewolf costume, helping the witch fly to the cauldron by solving a maze, and learning Halloween fun facts. The site has printables for all ages, including greeting cards in both half-fold and quarter-fold sizes as well as Halloween signs with messages announcing zombie crossing, broom parking, directions to a haunted house, and beware of ghosts.

You’ll find jack-o-lanterns, graveyards, black cats, scarecrows, witches, vampires, and much, much more at HalloweenPrintables.net.

All of the designs (except for the coloring pages and mazes, because that’s the kid’s job) are in full-color. Everything at HalloweenPrintables.net is free to download and print in PDF form, and the cards are also available as free, editable DOC files. You can also download the entire Halloween collection for just $19, which is a convenient, time-saving option.

So, “witch” printables will you download first? Don’t forget to ask your “mummy” if it’s OK. How many puns can I make in one blog post? Enjoy the new printables, and Happy Halloween!

Jewish Calendar Site Adds 2012, Hebrew Year 5772

I get a lot of positive feedback about my site, PrintableJewishCalendar.com, where it’s easy to print calendars with Hebrew dates, Jewish holidays, and various combinations of the two – all for free.

Rosh Hashanah starts at sundown Sept. 28, and in the Jewish faith and culture, that means the start of a new year. So, I’ve added printable calendars for each month of 5772, as well as traditional Gregorian 2012 calendars. There are four styles altogether: 5772 calendars with Hebrew days of the week and Jewish holidays noted; calendars for Hebrew year 5772 but with Gregorian equivalents; 2012 calendars that show Jewish holidays; and 2012 calendars that show the holidays, plus Jewish dates as well.

You can even generate your own Jewish calendar with the customer calendar creator –pick Gregorian or Hebrew months, or a combo, and click to download and print for free.

The calendars are available for the upcoming year in PDF form, so you can just open them with Adobe’s free Acrobat Reader or similar software and print them out for the home or office.

Calendar Printables Most Popular This Week

Wondering what’s popular in printables this week? Well, I just checked, and among the nearly 80 FreePrintable.net sites, there’s been a lot of downloading of calendar pages in the past week, as well as contracts, grocery lists, lined and graph paper, and resumes. (I was expecting to see most school-related printables rising to the top, so the ranking was a bit of a surprise to me.)

You can see what’s popular anytime by going to this link: http://www.FreePrintable.net/popular/week/. There, you’ll see displayed the top 20 most popular printables from the past week. It’s a pretty cool feature I added over the summer, and it’s also an easy way to discover new printables you might not have seen before.

The monthly 2011 calendars from www.Printable2011calendar.com are hot, and people are already getting a jump on 2012 calendars at Printable2012calendars.com.

Printable contracts are also hot, including a car selling contract, services rendered agreement, and rent-to-own contract at PrintableContracts.com.

Resumes, cover letters, and fax cover sheets round out the list of most-downloaded items. I see that one of the most popular fax cover sheets is a “confidential fax.” Sneaky!

New Business Plans and Press Release Templates

If you’re a small business owner, I hope you’re taking advantage of the many free printable forms and templates designed especially for your situation. I’ve just added to two of my sites that were designed especially for business owners and prospective business owners: BusinessPlanTemplate.net and PressReleaseTemplates.net.

The new business plan templates industry-specific plans for a hotel, bar, gym, coffee shop, day care, and more. You can go with a fill-in-the-blanks business plan, customize a prewritten plan to suit your needs, or just get prompts on the type of information to include when submitting a plan to a bank or potential financial backer. Plus, there are new tips and articles to go along with the sample plans and financial forms on the site. And they’re all free! Just download in DOC or XLS format.

Business Plan

The 10 new press release templates are pre-formatted just the way the media like them, and include samples relating to travel, film, health, tech, and more. There’s also advice on what to include in a release, along with writing tips. Just download, customize to suit your situation, print, and send it off to newspapers, blogs, and so on.

So, get entrepreneurial! Also, many of the press releases are also of use to nonprofits, schools, musicians, or anyone who needs to spread the word about something.
