New Printable Writing Templates Site

I’ve got a brand new Web site up that I made especially for teachers of young students. WritingTemplates.net, with its 100-plus printable writing templates is a fun way to help children practice their handwriting, letters, and penmanship skills. The 106 templates are arranged by theme; some have prompts while others feature cute and fun background pictures.

Many of the animal, seasonal, or food writing templates can double as coloring pages. The lines are placed directly against pictures of an apple, an elephant, a snowman or a gingerbread house. Why not add some incentive to an assignment and let students color in their picture once they finish practicing their letters?

While holiday, alphabet, and monthly printables can be inspirational for teachers and students depending on the time of year, some of the categories feature writing templates with instructional prompts. This is a great way to get kids to organize their thoughts into a logical narrative, whether it’s giving step-by-step instructions on how to do a puzzle or describing a recent birthday.
You can download and print all of the writing templates as a free PDF file, or opt for the $20 collection, which can be invaluable when you need a quick and quiet activity for a rowdy classroom.

Flash Cards and Word Searches

With Winter Break over and a new semester in full swing, students of all ages are finding that one way to make sure that study material has really been learned is through repetition. Users of PrintableFlashCards.net must be thinking along the same lines, which is why there are a dozen new flash cards that show the diverse subjects people are interested in learning.

There are already 158 flash cards available at the site that range from math and science to music and language to early childhood education. I love to see the variety of cards that people make. In the new batch alone we have an overview of the world’s major belief systems alongside a list of the parts and functions of the cardiovascular system. There’s also Roman Gods, Multiples of Four, Subtraction Facts, and the Science Periodic Table.

The best part of PrintableFlashCards.net is that you can make your own flash cards using the free flash card maker. Write out questions and answers and print them with either four or six cards per page.

I like to learn new things, but I prefer to make the process as fun as possible. That’s probably why user creations have led to more than 50 new word search puzzles at FreeWordSearch.net, because they combine new information with a challenging game. The new word searches cover everything from Parrots to Bullying to Church Articles to The Scarlet Letter. Overall, there are more than 880 to choose from.

Like the flash card maker, you can make your own word search with the free word search maker at FreeWordSearch.net. Just list the words you want included and choose a size and difficulty level to customize your own puzzle for classes, clubs or just good old fun and games!

Printable Paper Dolls

I’ve noticed two things about little kids: they love coloring and they love the sorts of fairytales that get turned into animated movies. I figured it would be fun to combine these two interests, so now PrintablePaperDolls.net has some new additions in the form of 25 new paper dolls available in two completely new categories that cover fairytales and celebrities.

My kindergartner likes to color, and I think children should be encouraged to make their playthings unique and creative. That’s why all the princesses and their outfits in the fairytale paper dolls category can be printed with full-color illustrations or as colorable dolls. Some of the new paper dolls include: Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Cinderella, Rapunzel and the Little Mermaid.

The famous people depicted in the celebrity paper dolls category are from various generations, and therefore fun for everyone. You can spot Bill Huxtable, The Terminator, Charlie’s Angels, The Sundance Kid and Rocky Balboa. All are featured in full color, with several outfits and even changeable hairstyles.

There are a total of 145 paper dolls at PrintablePaperDolls.net. They are all free to download as a PDF file, but if you’d like the convenience of an all-in-one download and a folder full of dolls you can print at any time, consider the entire paper doll collection, which is $9. Then, you’ll have an activity on-hand for your child, students, or customers (I find that business owners like setting out paper dolls just as they do coloring pages and dot-to-dot puzzles.) Don’t forget to laminate them or print them on cardstock in order to make them sturdy enough for extended use.

Free Recipe Cards

With last month’s holidays, plus a break from school, I expect many of you had time for some special family meals and perhaps a bit of recipe-swapping. I wanted to let you know that there are now 30 new printable recipe cards at FreePrintableRecipeCards.net that are lined, illustrated and stylish. They’re a much better option than jotting down Grandma’s old-fashioned cookies recipe on a napkin or scrap of notebook paper.

Most of the new additions to the site are food-themed illustrated recipe cards. They’re decorated with pictures of tasty snacks and drinks and you can choose from: chocolate muffins, holiday cookies, cinnamon coffee, cheesecake with cherries, soup and frosted cupcakes when you’re writing out, organizing or sharing your favorite treats and beverages.

At FreePrintableRecipeCards.net, there are 217 recipe cards available as free PDFs on 3×5, 4×6 or (in some cases) 8×10 lined or unlined templates. Alternatively, a customizable DOC file costs just $7 per design and can be edited with a compatible program such as Microsoft Word. Some additional categories include: holiday, religious, nature and animal themes that come in a variety of cute, fun, elegant and formal styles.

Printable Dot-to-Dot Puzzles

The newest batch of dot-to-dot puzzles at DotToDot.net doesn’t have a central theme this time. Or if it does, the theme is “fun” and it is aimed at any kid of any age. (Grownups can enjoy dot-to-dots, too – I won’t tell!) Girls and boys alike will find something to enjoy in one of the 31 new dot-to-dots, whether it be animal, nature, food or space.

The site has everything from the fantastical to the everyday with the new dot-to-dots, including a dragon, a spaceship, a sphinx, a wizard, a sofa, a hat and a cockroach. These really run the gamut. Other additions include high heels, hearts, a flamingo, a fox, and origami.

Animal Dot to Dot

There are 475 dot-to-dot puzzles divided into 11 categories at DotToDots.net. Some of those categories include animals, buildings, flowers, food and sports. They range in difficulty and style, making different pictures appropriate for different age levels and classroom activities. Most have numbers, while some let kids connect letters to practice the alphabet. All of the puzzles are free to download and print as a PDF.

It’s always a good idea to be prepared for long car trips, quiet time and waiting rooms by always having a stack of games and coloring pages on hand for kids. Parents, teachers, day care providers, and business that set out coloring pages and other activities may want to opt for the convenient dot to dot collection for just $9.

Free Printable Business Plans

As a small business owner myself, I understand how difficult it can be to keep track of all the day-to-day details, let alone planning business strategies long-term. I set up BusinessPlanTemplate.net to give small business owners free, detailed business plans templates designed for individual industries.

I recently added 20 new business plans for specific industries. Originally created for actual companies, all information remains the same, with example text that can be replaced and customized with your specific business information. The new plans are made to help restaurants, preschools, crafts, security and architects run their companies.

In addition to the specific industry business plans, there are also blank business forms for cost analyses, expense trackers, break even analyses, and projected incomes. There are even basic, fill-in-the-blanks business plan templates for general reference use.

All of the business plan templates are available as DOCs and are free to download, customize in Microsoft Word or another compatible program, and print.

Free Printable Planners

If you want to track your health, goals, family life, career or education, having a planner that lasts longer than a year can be a great asset. I have several new printable planners, along with specialty task lists and journals, now available at PrintablePlanners.net. They join the many variations of weekly planners so popular at the site.

Just in time for the new year, I have a new five-year planner available, as well as an even longer ten-year journal for the truly organized. Both of them begin on 2013 and run through 2017 and 2022 respectively. Each page is dedicated to organizing one date over the course of several years so that you can look back on dates for journaling, scrapbooking or medical purposes.

10-year journal

There is a wide variety of planners at PrintablePlanners.net that covers more immediate organizational needs. These include daily, weekly and monthly planners, as well as to-do lists and journals.

Overall, there are now 300 templates available in seven sizes that range from a full-page executive size to a mini planner that’s only 2.75” x 5”. All of the planners are free to download and print as PDFs. Alternatively, the entire planner collection is available as one quick download for only $9 per planner size.

Printable 2013 Calendars

Got your 2013 calendar yet? I know I’ll be dating checks “2012” for a good two months, at least for those few occasions when I do pay with check, but I always have my calendar up to date. Sometimes it feels impossible to keep up with family, work and travel without a calendar in every room. That’s why I have so many variations up at Printable2013Calendars.com.
2013 calendar
All of the traditional calendars are available for the organized individual. There are monthly calendars, yearly calendars with three months per page, year-on-one-page calendars and calendars with large dates or holidays written in red. Some are positioned vertically, others horizontally; some start on Sunday while others begin each week on Monday. Additionally, there are weekly calendars that can be used the same way as student planners, academic calendars for the school year, bookmark calendars, computer monitor calendars and calendars that are so small they fit in a wallet and can be carried with you wherever you go.

Each file can be downloaded and printed for free, either as a PDF template or a DOC file, which can be edited in a DOC-compatible word processor such as Microsoft Word.
