One thing I love about the holiday season is receiving newsletters and cards from my friends and family. Anyone sending festive letters themselves knows that a good border or stationery page is essential for conveying the Yuletide spirit. That’s why the 35 new page borders at PageBorders.net and the 30 new stationery templates at FreePrintableStationery.net are made just for the season.

The new PageBorders.net additions join the holiday border category and have everything from reindeer to ribbons to penguins wearing cute little Santa Claus hats. It’s also fun to use the page borders as party flyers. They have colorful borders while the page itself is kept blank, meaning that you can add fun, eye-catching fonts and additional pictures without the problem of overlap.

There are 212 page borders at PageBorders.
net that are perfect for any formal or informal occasion. All of the borders are available to download and print for free as a PDF, JPEG, PNG or DOC file. A customizable document in the original AI format is also available for just $7.

The FreePrintableStationery.net site also has Christmas stationery, which are illustrated across the whole page, with snowy landscape backgrounds and watermark pictures of Santa, snowmen, trees and Christmas bells. I think these add a nice holiday touch to personal letters and family news announcements.

There are 334 stationery templates at FreePrintableStationery.net, which are all free to print as lined or unlined pages. The categories cover everything from animals to weddings to music and technology. I think everyone who wants to express their own hobbies, tastes and enjoyments will find something at this site.

The holiday season can go by quickly if you’re not ready for it. I think that if there’s one thing that takes up more time than anything else, it’s shopping. Shopping for gift wrap, food, decorations and trees are all important parts of the holidays. However, my goal is to help people out by making everything else from recipe cards to gift tags to Santa letters to stationery available for free from a home computer. There are a lot of printables to choose from, and all of them are designed specifically for the Christmas season.

SantaPrintables.com is the hub of Christmas fun. The main idea is to help parents address Christmas concern, disbelief and inquiry with letters from Santa, Mrs. Claus and the elves. The site also features matching and memory games, greeting cards and an Advent calendar with color pictures of religious icons and holiday figures.

A lot of people are sending out Christmas cards to update friends and family on their lives. I think there should be a wide range of choices for Christmas letter templates that reflects different needs. People who want a traditional, foldable card can go to FreePrintableGreetingCards.net and choose from the 40 Christmas cards decorated with nutcrackers, snowmen, wreaths and Christmas trees. Others might like the Christmas letterhead templates at FreeLetterHeadTemplates.net. These and the Christmas stationery desgins have beautiful backgrounds made up of snowy landscapes and watermarks made up of snowmen pictures.

For people who want templates for party information or invitations, PageBorders.net has 212 Christmas borders that have a white background surrounded by borders made up of colorful wreaths, ribbons and treats. Alternatively, PrintInvitations.net has a number of party invitations that can be used for office parties and Christmas bashes.

My wife and I (but especially my wife) love to cook in the winter months, especially when it’s cold outside and we’re making something warm and tasty. Unfortunately, grocery stores can be a bit of a madhouse during the month of December. That’s partly why I have so many Christmas grocery lists and menu planners at FreePrintableGroceryList.com. It’s a good idea to know what you’ll be making and all the ingredients you’ll need before you leave the house, and these lists are a big help. Once you’ve gotten the ingredients, it can also be fun to spice up the cooking process with Christmas recipe cards from FreePrintableRecipeCards.net that depict delicious turkeys and festive characters.

If you’re looking for a fun way to reward or jokingly chastise your child or student’s behavior, the Christmas certificates at FreePrintableCertificates.net can be awarded to “Naughty” and “Nice” children. A “Lump of Coal” certificate even exists for the truly lost causes.

Children tend to be highly excitable during the holidays, so I’ve found that quiet activities do a lot to lower the energy levels in a home or classroom. Christmas dot-to-dot pages at DotToDots.net have varying levels of difficulty for drawing Santa, penguins and Christmas bows, while FreePrintableColoringPages.net has Christmas coloring pages of stockings, elves and reindeer.

Gift giving is the name of the game during December, so having a gift tag on hand can be crucial when making sure that presents get to the right recipients. For just such purposes, there are more than 50 printable gift tags at FreePrintableGiftTags.net. They come in a wide range of styles that are kiddy and cartoonish or formal and pretty.

All of the printables are available for free as PDF or, in the case of coloring pages, PNG files. They can be easily downloaded and printed from a home computer, then written on with pen or pencil. Customizable DOC files cost a few dollars per printable, and can be typed into directly and edited from a word processor such as Microsoft Word. Stationery and letterhead is always free.

Every year, kids across the country send out letters and wish lists to Santa at the North Pole. Those kids deserve a response, especially if they have concerns, an unaffordable request or even a little naughty behavior that needs addressing. Fortunately, there are Santa letter templates for all kids and situations at SantaPrintables.com, as well as a number of other fun Christmas activities.

Letters at SantaPrintables.com are available for everyone who wants their kid to have that extra moment of magic during the Christmas season. The letters are also great for broaching difficult subjects with children. Some of them address kids who are worried about not having a chimney, who are getting older, who will not receive many presents due to financial hardship, or who didn’t get the present they wanted. Others are just fun and festive ways to tell children that they are on the “nice” list, or to remind them of the religious nature of the holiday. I even put in a few from the elves, reindeer and Mrs. Claus, because, hey—why should Santa be the only one with pen pals?

In addition to the letter templates, there are a number of fun Christmas activities and other printables at the site. Kids and families can play Christmas games for memory, matching and Bingo. There are also full-color Christmas cards and even an Advent calendar.

There are more than 50 letter templates available at SantaPrintables.com All of the letters come with full-color illustrations of Santa, ribbons and Christmas trees. The templates are free to download and print as PDFs, or $5 for a DOC file that can be customized in Microsoft Word or its equivalent.

I recently added a selection on new lists to FreePrintableGroceryList.com, and I wanted to let you know about them an also highlight the many holiday grocery lists, menu planners, and gift and sales trackers at that site.

The new grocery lists available at the site include several that are made for people who need specific lists and suggestions for diets, trips and events, so there’s no reason to ever make a second trip to the store.

A lot of people these days have specialty grocery lists due to diets that require them to be gluten-free, casein-free, or follow vegan or paleo guidelines. The templates provided have columns that list acceptable foods and blank columns for filling in additional items. I’ve also branched out with this round of additions, providing templates for stocking up a college dorm, packing for the beach, and camping.

Some of the lists are broken up into smart grocery lists with categories for specific things. There is an illustrated template for children to use, a coupon binder, and a grocery list specifically made to help people keep their budget under $50.
All lists at FreePrintableGroceryList.com are available as a PDF or DOC file and are free to download, customize in Microsoft Word, and print.

I wrote a book! OK, so I wrote a handful of books back in the ’90s when the Internet was young, but this book is especially close to my heart because it chronicles my life “growing up geek.”

Terrible Nerd, by me, Kevin Savetz, who as a child in the ’70s and ’80s was part of the first generation that had easy access to home computers. And I made the most of it, doing everything from writing code on my dad’s Atari 800 to playing Intellivision games until my mom would yell at me to go outside. (My mom finally overcame her WarGames-fueled concerns and let me have a modem, though.)

I also write about my high school and college days, and my career as a technology journalist that ultimately led to my Web publishing ventures such as the 80-plus FreePrintable.net and the Internet faxing service FaxZero.com. There are a lot of personal stories in the book, but also plenty of computing history and tech specs. Plus, I mention my brushes with early BBS and Internet gurus, and that time Microsoft big wigs came to my small town to check on a project I was working on, and my stint as AOL’s Internet AnswerMan. Oh, and in the early ’90s I accidentally brought down the Internet for all of Europe. True story!

Terrible Nerd reveals some secrets, like how I got my hands on various computers so I could try my hand at writing text adventure games, program in BASIC, dial into Bulletin Board Systems, and otherwise experiment with developing technology.

You can buy Terrible Nerd on Amazon.com in print and as a Kindle e-book. It makes a great holiday gift (hint, hint).

I had so much fun researching and writing this book, and I hope you’ll check it out. It’s for nerds and non-nerds alike.

One of my favorite things about the winter months is spreading goodwill by making parties and celebrations a little easier and more fun with the free printables available through my FreePrintable.net websites. With Hanukkah approaching on Dec. 8, I’m excited to have a lot of products available for this special holiday.
As you would expect in a time of gift-giving and holiday parties, my holiday gift tags and Hanukkah greeting cards are among my most popular printables, found at FreePrintableGiftTags.net and FreePrintableGreetingCards.net respectively. The gift tags are perfect for present exchanges among family and friends, while the cards can be used for season greetings or party invitations. Both sets of printables have richly colored depictions of fun in the snow, spinning dreidels and warmly-lit menorahs. The gift tags are all available for free as PDFs and DOC files. The greeting cards have a free PDF and a $4 editable DOC option.

A great way to keep children entertained and involved with the holiday is with my free Hanukkah coloring pages at BibleColoringPages.org. These include pictures of a holiday family meal, a cute elephant with a dreidel and the lighting of the Menorah. All of them come as PNG files and are free to print from any computer before coloring in.

Many of my other sites have Hanukkah printables that are perfect for adding a little flavor to daily activities. Person and business communications can be made festive with the Hanukkah fax cover sheet from FreeFaxCoverSheets.net or the blue dessert-and-decoration Hanukkah page border from PageBorders.net. These are also free to print, and the page border comes in a wide variety of formats.

Even little gifts and awards from teachers and parents can make a day feel fun and special, which is why I like the Hanukkah certificates at FreePrintableCertificates.net and the pretty blue Hanukkah bookmark at FreePrintableBookmarks.net. The certificates have awards for both “Hanukkah” and “Chanukah” depending on the preferred spelling of the giver, and the bookmark is decorated with spinning dreidels. The certificates are free as PDF with a $5 editable DOC option. The bookmark is also free as a PDF and can be cut out, taped and laminated before being used or even given as a gift.

It’s never too early to start planning ahead, which is why I’ve put up the new 2013 calendars at Printable2013Calendars.com. I always like to make sure I’ve taken my whole schedule into account, since I’m more likely to forget things that I’ve planned months in advance.

The 2013 calendars come in a variety of formats. Some feature one, three, or four months per page. Others have an entire year condensed onto one page. Wallet-sized calendars are also available, as well as academic calendars for students and teachers. Many of these pages have federal holidays highlighted or labeled. I recently added new variations, including a bookmark calendar and one designed to be taped to a computer monitor.

Each file can be downloaded and printed for free, either as a PDF template or a DOC file, which can be edited in a word processor such as Microsoft Word.

Thanksgiving is a great holiday because it gives family the opportunity to come together, especially if they’ve been kept apart by work, school and long distances. Unfortunately, that means that in order to reconvene for that special meal, someone has to do some driving. I’m pleased to say that the ThanksgivingPrintables.net site has games and activities that are great for those long car trips, especially with children.

ThanksgivingPrintables.net offers over 60 Thanksgiving games that are great for Thanksgiving parties. Children can have quiet activity time with the football and pilgrim mazes, word searches and dozens of coloring pages featuring leaves, pumpkins, turkeys and more. There are several new Thanksgiving printables, including memory and bingo games families can play together, as well as Thanksgiving fun facts.

Individual DOC and PDF files are all free to download, or users can get the entire collection of templates for only $19.

Teachers are among the many people who have emailed to tell me how much they enjoy and appreciate PrintableFlashcards.net, my site that allows users to make their own flash cards and share them with each other.

The new flash cards are not easily summarized or categorized, because they offer such a wide variety of information. The 15 flash cards in the new batch include: questions about Albert Einstein, medical prefixes, army ranks, and computer vocabulary.

The diverse and informative collection at PrintableFlashcards.net consists of 148 cards, with more being added all the time. They’re all free to print as PDFs, and they download instantly. Most of them are user-generated, and I encourage others to be forthcoming with their interests, study material and general knowledge as well. People who want to share can make and submit their own flash cards with my flash card maker. Or, just generate them for your personal use.

I love my dog, Louie, but I had no idea that some people liked certain kinds of canines so much! After getting a number of requests for stationery with different breeds of dogs, I have put up 25 new stationery templates. Most of them feature pooches, but I also have new letterhead featuring instruments for those who are more musically inclined. Users who like dogs and music are in for a real treat!

I think the new dog stationery is great for all dog owners, breeders, and pet stores. A large number of breeds that range from dachshunds to boxers to afghan hounds are represented on warm backgrounds. The pictures of the dogs are detailed and realistic rather than being cartoony.

The music stationery has a bit more jazz to it, which I think suits the category well. Performers, artists, and anyone who loves music can get behind the fun illustrations of trumpets, harps, and saxophones on the instrument stationery.

All stationery at FreePrintableStationery.net is available as a DOC file and is free to download, customize in Microsoft Word, and print.
